Chehalis Farmers Market

Local and regional writers gather at Trans Alta Commons to read from their work, talk about their craft, and connect with the community. The Chehalis Flying Saucer Party

Only in Chehalis: the town that put itself on the map for the 1947 flying saucer sighting throws a full weekend party to celebrate it. The Chehalis Flying Saucer Party takes over downtown with guest speakers on UFO and paranormal topics, live music, an outdoor vendor and art market, the Northwest Flying Saucer Film Fest, a costume contest, and even a "saucer drop." Many activities are free and family-friendly, with the vendor market opening around 10 AM on Saturday at the museum. Grab an alien or astronaut costume and join the fun — it is a uniquely Lewis County good time.
BINGO Train on the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad

One of the most charming experiences in Lewis County returns this Saturday: the BINGO Train on the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad. Board at the Chehalis Depot at 5 PM for a scenic ride through the countryside while playing bingo along the way, with winners earning free tickets, pins, and coupons. Fares include unlimited bingo cards, and there is a bar aboard for grown-up refreshments. Seats are limited, so reserve ahead of time — this one sells out quickly. Daytime scenic excursions also run at 11 AM and 2 PM on Saturdays, so you can make a full day of it.

Chehalis & Centralia — Open to the public
Want to get involved in how the county works? The Lewis County Board of Commissioners holds its weekly legislative meeting on Tuesday, September 8 at 10 AM in the Hearing Room of the Historic Courthouse (351 NW North St, Chehalis), and the Lewis County Planning Commission meets that same evening at 6 PM at 125 NW Chehalis Ave. Both are open to the public — check the county's online agendas ahead of time for what is on the table.
The Timberland Regional Library in Centralia (110 S Silver St) has family-friendly happenings all week, including a Tween Graphic Novel Book Club on Tuesday at 4 PM and a Teen Hangout on Wednesday from 3 to 4 PM. It is a great, no-cost way to get the kids out of the house and into the community.
